The LCPO has been focusing its academic research in Polymer Science on the mechanisms of polymerization and macromolecular engineering. Important projects are oriented towards the design of functional high value-added polymers and the study of their macroscopic properties for target applications, in particular in the domains of energy, technology and life sciences. Green and biomimetic synthetic approaches together with the understanding of structure/properties relationships are essential to its strategy.

The LCPO has made the strategic decision to move with its skills and competences in the polymer chemistry to the upcoming era of Organic Electronics. The arrival of Prof. Hadziioannou in the unit reinforced this strategy and the creation of the team Polymer Electronic Materials and Devices has seen the light.

In particular, the Arkema/ANR industrial chair HOMERIC implements an integrated research and development program addressing the whole value chain of hierarchically structured organic electronic materials – from the molecular synthesis to the proof of concept – while making the link between fundamental discovery and industrial innovation.

The ELORPrintTec facility is thus at the central stage regarding the strategy and objectives of the LCPO unit.
